Other Band Opportunities
Hello Band!
We sometimes get contacted about other band opportunities. See the following below. Please read and contact the individuals directly, they are not associated with our band and the information is all we have.
See you Wednesday and be prepared to be outside.
American Legion Band Concerts (see attachment):
Hello: Post 185 American Legion Band will be performing at the 56th Annual Flag Placement Ceremony at Willamette National Cemetery, Friday, May 24th with downbeat at 5:00 PM .
On Monday, May 27th, the Band will participate in the Memorial Day Service at Beaverton Veterans Memorial Park with starting time at 10 AM.
Attached is the information page I send out to Post members and interested musicians.
Post 185 has only 22 active members. The youngest is 73 and the oldest members were in WW2. Every year I invite members of several community bands to help us participate in these very worthwhile events. These performances are not just band concerts. The Band actually participates in the events and the spectacle of sight and sound is very impressive.
So: I am asking you to help Post 185 Band produce quality performances and continue the traditions of the United States of America.
Thanks
Barry R. Benson
Commander, Post 185 Band
Looking for Trumpet Players:
My name is Kasi, I am the VP for the Knights Drum & Bugle Corps here in Portland, Oregon. We are a small startup Corps at the moment, and have been offered a great fundraising opportunity! We currently only have a drumline and color guard, so we are asking around to see if there are any trumpet players that may be interested in helping us out with this fundraiser?
Information:
We have been asked to participate at the Renaissance Faire in Canby the first 3 weekends in June (1-2, 8-9, 15-16) 9am-7pm. We would need about 2 trumpets per show, preferably if they can stay all day, that would be easiest, but we can also rotate people out as needed for partial days. There will also be some rehearsals/run-throughs prior to opening day.
We will be able to provide meals, snacks, as well as costumes, instruments, and free access to the faire (we can likely get them an extra ticket if they have someone they would like to bring). We can also offer transportation from our rehearsal site in Milwaukie, or gas compensation for their travels. We are looking at our budget to see if we may also be able to afford a small compensation for their time.
If you know of anyone who would be interested in helping us out, or have any questions, please have them email me at swedrum555@gmail.com.
Thank you for your time, we look forward to hearing from your students!
Kasi H.
