Notes from last rehearsal
Thank you for another productive rehearsal Tuesday night!
For our members who could not attend, here is a recap of what we worked on:
Blue Sky: Intro., and a run-through.
There are three tempo changes starting with the slower beginning, changing to much faster at measure 5, and the final slower rock tempo at 61-end.
The style also changes from a "swing" style of 8th notes to straight 8ths at 51.
Don't Stop Me Now: 45-53 and a run-through, watch for tempo change at measure 14.
Celebration: measures 9-17 trumpets and upper ww measures 25-33 trumpets, trombones run-through: don't drag the vocal part measures 33-41.
I'm Still Standing: measures 24-29, all woodwinds.
Treasure: whole band, intro., 13-21, 33-41 we worked on counter melodies throughout.
Good 4 U: slow work through on various articulations.
The percussion section joined us for the last section of the rehearsal, and we ran through Boogie Shoes, Thriller, Radar Love and I'm Still Standing. It was great to have the percussion section join us at this point in the season! Nice job!
As we head into next week, we will keep working on all of the songs with a focus on rhythms, articulations and notes. Tempos will be easier to address when those things feel more in place.
This Thursday is the percussion section at Earl Boyles only! The next full rehearsal is Tuesday, April 23rd! Please feel free to join us on the track at 6:15 for a few walking laps!
Thank you!
