Announcements May 1st

Hard to believe we are already in May!  Concerts and parades are just around the corner.  Couple quick announcements and then we will summarize what we discussed at rehearsals last week.

Thursday, May 2nd - Fingers crossed the weather holds out as predicted and Thursday evening will be dry.  While it may be a little cool (bring your jacket) we are planning to be outside.  As we all know our music just sounds different (and better) outside.  We plan to start off the rehearsal going through the concert pieces then will finish the rehearsal with some track marching, wear those tennis shoes!

Reminder for outside concerts and rehearsals, we highly recommend using the flip folders and lyres.  They are easy and they are portable.  If you need to use a full stand, it is up to you to provide that stand AND for the June 1st concert we will NOT provide any storage for your stand (or anything else) in the van.

Happy marching!

June 1st: Our most exciting news, we are officially booked at Pioneer Courthouse Square, June 1st at 2pm!  This is a terrific venue and should draw in a great crowd, a lot of who will be right there for the Starlight parade a few hours later.

Announcement Summary

Uniform:  Don’t wait to try on those white pants!  Now is the time to make sure those white pants still fit and those white shoes are still in wearable shape.  Reminder for the June 1st concert and both parades, we will be in FULL uniform, tie dye shirt, Carl’s Jr. hat, white pants, white shoes, white socks, white undies… Don’t forget your hat!  Auxiliaries please discuss your uniform with your captains.

For May 22nd and May 29th - Uniform will be the tie dye shirt and Carl’s Jr. hat.  You have the freedom to wear whatever you’d like (be respectful) on your bottom half.  Again, don’t forget your hat!

For accessories, for the Starlight Parade it is great and highly recommended to get some glow in the dark and blinking light accessories.  Have fun with it, but we do ask that you do NOT block Carl’s Jr. or the OMTAAMB logo on the shirt and hat.  For the Grand Floral Parade, you may still decorate with pretty flowers and such, but ask you keep in a little classier and again no blocking of logos.  Questions on what to get, how to wear etc, see Nicole at rehearsals.

If you are unable to attend uniform night, May 16th, please find a friend to pick up your uniform.  Send them an email, text, handwritten letter, something they can show us to say it's ok to pick up your uniform.  We will not hand it over without it in writing.  We also will NOT be handing out uniforms at other rehearsals, this is it!  Be there or make arrangements.

End of Season Celebration:  Please RSVP on the sign in sheet at rehearsal for the end of season celebration at The Doubletree.  We need to have the RSVP done by May 16th.  If you are an out of towner, please have whoever is picking up your uniform also RSVP for you on the check in sheet.

Volunteers: If you or your volunteered spouse/partner are interested in helping handout uniforms on May 16th, please see Justine (trumpet section).

40th Pins: You guys were so excited to get the pins that we sold all of them last week.  But don’t worry, more have been ordered and will be here in a couple of weeks for your purchase.

Rose Festival Pins: They have been ordered and are just waiting for the Rose Festival to get them in.  As soon as they are in we will have them for sale at rehearsals.

Fanny Packs: We have plenty for sale for only $10!  They are amazing and hold a full size water bottle, so you all can stay hydrated during concerts and parades.

Jackets: Thank you for all that ordered jackets.  They are set to be delivered with the shirts on May 16th.  Same goes for jackets, if you can’t be there make sure someone has something in writing saying they can pick up on your behalf.

Whew, I think that is it (for now)!  See you all tomorrow.
