40th Kick Off Meeting Summary
Hope everyone is staying warm and safe with this hopefully brief winter storm. Thank you to everyone who made it out to the meeting on Tuesday, we had a great turnout!
First, welcome to our Fabulous 40th season! We are so excited to kick off this year. We want to invite everyone to join us to make it a great year. We would love to get our numbers back up and our goal is to be at 400 this year.
MEMBERSHIP: Membership is officially open. You can now sign up for the season. Log into Member Planet (on a computer or laptop and NOT on your phone). https://www.memberplanet.com/
Once you are in your profile on Member Planet, click “RENEW”. Please do not use the donate button to renew your membership. We are not raising membership dues this year, $65 with check or $68 if paid online. Last day to sign up for this year is April 1, 2024. Don’t wait til the last minute, you don’t want to forget. Now is the time to get your friends and family to join us. Have them fill out an application at https://www.omtaamb.org/join. We will be holding tryouts in March.
We are also offering any of your high school seniors that want to participate to join us this year. They can join however, they must ONLY attend rehearsals and performances where you will be with them.
Some of you have either won paid membership through last year’s celebration or won membership sponsored by one of the board members. If you were one of those people, please reply to this email so we can ensure everyone is accounted for appropriately.
Charter Members - Deann Troen has graciously volunteered to sponsor ALL charter members participating in this season. We need to know who is participating. If you were not at the meeting Tuesday AND plan to participate in this season, please respond to this email so we can have you counted.
SPONSORSHIP: We are so excited to welcome back Carl’s Jr. as our sponsor for the season. Without them, we would NOT be able to have the season we are planning. It is important we show respect and support for Carl’s Jr. We are excited to welcome back some of their employees as flag and banner carriers.
MUSIC: All music and records are now available in the members only section of our BRAND NEW website, https://www.omtaamb.org/members. Password is “One Moretime Arounb” (caps matter, but no quotations). Reminder, we do not print music for everyone, so get on the site and start practicing! The full concert order is on the site and all 3 of the marching tunes are listed.
UNIFORM: We are excited to bring back the tie-dye!!! We will be sporting a bright, yellow, orange and red tie-dye shirt. Because the shirts are tie-dye we highly recommend sizing at least 1 size up. The dyeing process tends to shrink the shirts and we want everyone to be comfortable.
You MUST go into your Member Planet profile and update your shirt size. This is YOUR responsibility. We will use what is listed in Member Planet to order your shirts. If your shirt doesn’t fit, it will be your responsibility to find someone to trade.
JACKETS: You have the opportunity to order 40th anniversary jackets. The order form is attached to this email. The jackets are $40 and orders are due by April 23rd. At rehearsals, we will have sizes to try on. Download order form
BOARD MEMBERS: Tuesday, Mike Carpenter was elected as our new Treasurer. The Vice President of Operations remains open if anyone is interested. We have a couple other new board members, Shannon Fernaeus will handle membership and recruiting and Mark Reed will be a Member at Large.
REHEARSALS: Attached to this email, is the 2024 schedule. Two big things, prior to most rehearsals we are offering up track walking groups (weather permitting). This will help so everyone is in parade shape, join us!
For rehearsals, please DO NOT come into the building until 6:45pm. You may see board members inside setting up, this does not mean we are “open”. If you are early, head on out to the track and join your bandmates.
PERFORMANCES: We are still working to finalize details for locations, but we are planning for 3 standstill performances and 2 parades. We are hoping for a concert on the eastside, one on the westside and one the afternoon of the Starlight parade. We are looking for a school space with a football field and stadium seating. If you have school connections, please reach out to the board.
END OF SEASON CELEBRATION: To celebrate our 40th, we are bringing back the celebration at the conclusion of the Grand Floral Parade. After the parade, we will continue walking over to the Lloyd Center DoubleTree. Please plan for a couple hours to celebrate with us.
We are looking forward to a fabulous season. Start practicing, get your friends/family signed up, get your membership paid, shirt size updated and we will see you all in April!
